What to expect from a consultation

Herbalism is one of the oldest systems of medicine in the world, and the types of conditions we work with are far reaching.

Most issues you would address with your GP can be directed to a herbalist, where we will work with you to understand your specific health concerns and goals, and tailor your treatment plan to address those concerns.

My goal is to empower you to take an active role in your own healthcare, and to support you in making informed decisions about your treatment.

You may have a specific ailment that you want to address, whether it be a long-term or short-term problem, or it may be that your looking for something to support you through your day to day hormonal changes, sleep, stress, emotional well-being, diet and so on. In many cases these areas will overlap, and we'll look into several aspects of this, allowing me to gain a fuller picture of your health, and your bodies "underlying terrain".

Initially I recommend booking a 1-hour slot, to allow time to fully dive into all aspects relating to what's going on. These appointments can be offered in-person at the Napiers Edinburgh Clinic, or by telephone or video call.

In some cases further testing can be useful to see what's going on under the surface, and may be advised (although never an obligation). These can be obtained through your GP, or I can suggest particular testing facilities outside the NHS if necessary. (We have a phlebotomist within the clinic, and can send away for practitioner requested testing via private labs).

Following your appointment I will prescribe a protocol of herbal remedies uniquely formulated for yourself, based on the information I have gleaned from our appointment. Herbal prescriptions are dispensed at Napiers Herbal Dispensary, Edinburgh, and can be collected from there or posted out to you (including internationally). Please note that prescriptions are above the cost of consultation.

If for whatever reason I feel that I am not the best practitioner suited to your particular needs, I will refer you on to someone who I feel would be more suited.
